The Sacrament of Eucharist (First Holy Communion) is received by the age of 8 years after having been catechized (taught) for 2 years in the Parish Religious Education Program and/or when the child is ready after receiving 2 years of instruction. If your child needs his/her First Communion and is in 1st grade or 6 years and older, they must complete the mandatory 2-year Parish Religious Education Program or PREP. They must register every year they attend. Please note that registration for the 2025-26 PREP program is now closed, but when it opens, you may obtain an application by clicking on the link below, printing it and submitting it with your payment to register your child. If you need your First Communion and you are a teenager or an adult, you must enroll in the Parish OCIA (Order of Catholic Initiation for Adults, formerly RCIA) program. NOTE: ANY NEW STUDENT THAT IS IN GRADE LEVEL 6 OR HIGH SCHOOL THAT IS BAPTIZED BUT HAS NOT RECEIVED FIRST HOLY COMMUNION MUST REGISTER IN PERSON.
El Sacramento de la Eucaristía (Primera Comunión) se recibe a la edad de 8 años después de haber sido catequizado (enseñado) por 2 años en el Programa de Educación Religiosa de la Parroquia y/o cuando el niño está listo después de recibir 2 años de instrucción. Si su niño(a) necesita su Primera Comunión y está en 1er grado o tiene 6 años o más, él/ella debe completar el Programa de Educación Religiosa Parroquial obligatorio de 2 años. Debe inscribirse cada año que asista. Por favor, noten que las inscripciones para el año escolar de catecismo 2025-26 están cerradas, pero cuando abren, pueden obtener una aplicación haciendo clic en el botón de abajo, imprimiéndola y entregándola con su pago para inscribir a sus hijos. Si usted necesita su Primera Comunión y es un adolescente o un adulto, debe inscribirse en el programa OICA (Orden de Iniciación Católica para Adultos, antes RICA) de la parroquia. Confirmation is received at the end of the 8th grade of instruction in the Parish Religious Education Program (PREP). A 2-year program (7th grade and 8th grade) is in place to instruct students about being a witness to Jesus, to serve others as Jesus did, and the importance of the Holy Spirit (the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit) in their lives. Classes must be attended on a regular basis and a student must have been attending classes in the Religious Education Program for 4 consecutive years or all 8 years prior to receiving the sacrament of Confirmation or for 2 years after receiving their First Communion. A Retreat is also required and is usually given by the parish. If the Parish Retreat is missed, then the student must find another retreat to attend and bring proof of attendance. To receive Confirmation, the child MUST receive his/her First Communion and must complete 2 more years of PREP. As in the First Communion process, they must register for PREP every year they attend. La Confirmación se recibe al final del 8º grado de instrucción en el Programa Parroquial de Educación Religiosa (PREP). Un programa de 2 años (7mo grado y 8vo grado) esta en lugar para instruir a los estudiantes acerca de ser un testigo de Jesús, para servir a otros como Jesús lo hizo, y la importancia del Espíritu Santo (los frutos y dones del Espíritu Santo) en sus vidas. Las clases deben ser asistidas regularmente y un estudiante debe haber asistido a clases en el Programa de Educación Religiosa por 4 años consecutivos o todos los 8 años antes de recibir el sacramento de la Confirmación o por 2 años después de recibir su Primera Comunión.
